Free Things to do in Las Vegas with your Kids

Taking the kids with you to Las Vegas doesn’t mean you have to break the bank nor does it mean you need to worry about a lack of activities to keep them entertained whilst there. Las Vegas has an array of free, fun things for your kids to enjoy along with the adults.

Parks

Valley of fire national park

There are plenty of parks that the whole family can visit. At The Children’s Memorial Park, kids are spoilt for choice with four different play areas, as well as pavement games. Not to mention its nine picnic areas, where you can have a healthy family picnic whilst soaking up the scenery and heat. If your kids are the sporty types then there are also two jogging paths, and basketball and baseball courts to keep them busy.

Garden Walks

After all the food you’re bound to consume, it’s probably a good idea to get some exercise to help work off those calories. The Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens provide a beautiful walk for the whole family, with some break-taking seasonal displays. The Botanical Cactus Gardens offers another great walk with plenty to see, and it’s free of charge if you take your kids to visit the Ethel M Chocolate Factory.

Hiking

Hiking is great fun, especially at Clark County Park, which has its famous Duck Creek Trail, a two-mile walk surrounded by tons of wildlife. You can also hire some bicycles if you’re tired of walking and healthy packed lunch to sit down in the picnic area.

Cycling

Exercise usually depends on the weather, so if it isn’t too hot then cycling is a great way to experience Vegas and the amazing scenery. There is a host of different bike trails, which are kid-friendly along with family biking events during spring and autumn.

Swimming

If your hotel has a swimming pool, then take full advantage of it, especially in the hot climate. It’s also great exercise and lots of fun splashing around with the kids and gives them a much-needed break from the heat. If your hotel doesn’t have a swimming pool, then go to one of the public pools in Vegas, where kids 3 years old or younger can swim for free, and for children that are older, it’s still only a small fee, usually around $2.

Museums

Las Vegas Natural History Museum

Escape from the heat and take a visit to one of Las Vegas’ museums, where your kids can learn something new. The Marjorie Barrick Museum of Natural History, a few minutes from the strip, offers a range of educational, exciting events for children of all ages. Another place worth a visit to the University of Nevada campus is the Xeric Garden. If you’ve got older children, they may prefer a trip to the Searchlight Community Museum, with only a small fee for entry.
